About
This is the personal site of Jackie Plage aka Zenith. It’s been around in various forms since 2004, across the domains zeniths.net thekatswhiskers.com and thoughtpixels.com before arriving here. I still have archives of the old site though I’m not sure what I’ll do with them yet. Though I’m present across many different sites, this will always be my home on the intertubes.
All about Jackie Plage
I’m never really sure what people expect to see when they come to these ‘about’ pages, but I’ll do my best to give you an idea of who I am. I’m a 33 year old married woman, in charge (I think) of a teenage girl who sometimes acknowledges the fact that I’m her mother (only when her friends aren’t looking, it’s not cool for a 14 yr old to acknowledge they have parents apparently).
I’ve been an avid reader of books since I learnt to read, which fed an active childhood imagination. I was so fascinated with words that when I was all grown up I began a degree in English Language and Literature, but due to life’s rich tapestry had to drop out a third of the way through. Still, even though I gained nothing I could build a career from, it gave me some very valuable experiences and insights and my love of books across many genres continues. Lately I’ve begun to read comic books and graphic novels and they’ve opened up a whole new and fantastic world to me.
Though nowhere near a pro, I enjoy tinkering with websites and design. Techology in general fascinates me (my daughter says I’m a geek, and I don’t think she meant it as a compliment). I frequently spend long periods of time on the internet drooling over the latest bits of gadgetry. My husband buys me things like hard drives, fancy mice and web design books for birthdays and christmas as opposed to perfume or flowers. I get far more excited over stores like Game than I do clothes shops. I think you get the picture.
What else…hmmm. I’m a huge music lover, you can see the kind of stuff I listen to on my last.fm profile. You might not think it from my profile, but I have a fairly wide taste in music. Admittedly though I’m a sucker for metal (I was going to say anything hard and heavy, but somebody is bound to misinterpret that). I love going to concerts when funds allow, I’ve been lucky enough to see Slayer, Lamb of God, Muse, Nine Inch Nails and AC/DC, amongst others, during my lifetime. I hope to one day see Bruce Springsteen, a man I’ve always admired in many ways.
I think that’s about it! You might also get an idea of my likes/dislikes by following my lifestream.
